I spent most of my time at school drawing in the back of my exercise book, a habit I continued with on my art foundation course whilst at Somerset College of Arts and Technology. Then at university I fell in love with the story telling power and dramatic movement of animation. Majoring in animation, I graduated and soon started my career in the traditional animation industry using pencil and paper. Over the years I have worked on many television shows. These have included numerous Bafta award winning children’s TV series such as Charlie & Lola, Yoko! Jakamoko! Toto! and The Secret Show. I now work split my time between Somerset and London, working mostly on computer in online media so I find it even more important to practice traditional art techniques. I often take my inspiration from my childhood growing up in Somerset, chasing those fleeting moments half remembered. Passionate in my work and life, I continue to draw in my exercise book. A Visit to the Woods This collection of illustrative watercolours tries to capture those moments just glimpsed. Feelings of rare picturesque beauty and half recalled memories while walking in the wilds of Somerset. Those moments you will never forget nor fully recall as you would wish. Even though only a warm feeling of that time remains, there is always hope for the next chance happening. I hope that one of these images will reawaken one of those memories and the warmth that comes with it.
